Key takeaways
- On a brand-registered ASIN, the registered brand's account outranks every other seller on title, images and description.
- Sellers report that Seller Support cannot override it: in one thread, "Seller support will not and cannot help you".
- A rewritten page is a detail page abuse report in Account Health, not a Report a Violation case.
- An Amazon community manager described Report a Violation as being only for trademark, patent or copyright claims.
- Export your own title, bullets and image set with a date on them, so a change has a before and after.
Before you start
- Your Brand Registry account, with the role that can edit the ASIN in question.
- A dated copy of the page as it should read: title, bullets and image files.
- The ASIN and the seller ID of whoever is contributing the changes, if you can see it.
- An order ID from the other party, if the case turns out to be a trademark one.
Step by step
- Check who holds the brand role on that ASINIn Brand Registry, look at the brand and the accounts attached to it. If your account is not the one registered on the brand, nothing you upload will stick, and that is the problem to solve first instead of the title.
- Re-send the correct value once, cleanlySellers report editing the attribute directly on the ASIN or sending it in an upload file with the update option. If it reverts or never appears, stop repeating it: the contribution is losing, and repeating it adds nothing.
- Open the case through Brand Registry, not standard supportOne seller wrote that the "Brand Registry leadership team should be able to update your title for you if the attribute is frozen in the catalog". Use the same email as your main Brand Registry account, which another seller found was what made the difference.
- Report the page itself in Account HealthAn Amazon community manager advised reporting through the Account Health dashboard and choosing the option for a product received that differs from the detail page, with the full details attached. File one report per seller, not one report for all of them.
- Only use Report a Violation for an actual IP claimIf the other party's product or packaging infringes your trademark, that is the right tool, and Amazon may ask for an order ID from a test buy. A copy or image dispute sent through it comes back as no violation identified.
- Verify and then re-check a week laterCompare the live page against your dated copy, not against your memory of it. Attributes that were won once get won again, so put a calendar reminder on the ASIN rather than trusting that the case closed it.
You open the detail page one morning and the title is not yours. The images are not the ones you shot. Your price and your stock are untouched, the ASIN is the same, and your edits either bounce back or sit in the catalog doing nothing. Another seller changed your Amazon listing, and the help desk tells you it cannot be reverted from their side.
Why another seller can change your Amazon listing at all
A detail page is one shared record that many offers hang off. Whoever holds the strongest claim on that record wins its attributes. When a brand is registered, the registered brand's account outranks everyone else on title, images, bullets and description. That is the feature working as designed, and it is also exactly what it feels like when the wrong account holds it.
So there are two different situations behind the same symptom:
- Someone else is registered on the brand. Then their edits stick and yours do not, and no amount of flat file uploading changes that.
- You are registered, but your contribution is losing or the attribute is frozen. Sellers report hitting a title that will not update no matter what they send.
The reports from the forums are blunt about the limits. In one thread a seller relayed what Amazon told them: "They said yes we have updated it but its up to the Brand Owner to approve it." In the same thread another seller wrote that "Certain important attributes like the title can only be changed with a delete/relist", and a third that "Seller support will not and cannot help you". None of that is official policy text, so treat it as what other sellers report rather than the procedure.
The fix, in the order other sellers report it working
Work top down and stop as soon as one step sticks. Every step in the recipe above is seller-reported unless it says otherwise, and the order matters: checking who holds the brand role first saves you from fighting a catalog that was never going to listen to your account.
What not to do
Do not open a Report a Violation case because your copy was rewritten. An Amazon community manager in one thread described that tool as being "specifically to report Intellectual Property violations (Trademark, Patent or copyright)". Sending a copy dispute through it is how reports come back with "We cannot take action on the report as no violation has been identified", and one seller reported that a stolen-images complaint "gave me a brand abusive violation instead". If the other party is actually selling your trademarked product or packaging, that is a different case and Brand Registry is the right door.
Do not delete and relist a page that carries your reviews unless you have exhausted everything else. It is suggested in the threads, and it does move the title, but you are trading a wrong title for a cold page.
How to stop it coming back
Check who holds the brand role before you need to. What Amazon Brand Registry is and what it gives you covers the roles themselves, and the trap is the gap between owning a trademark and being the registered account on it. Keep your own copy of the page as it should be: the exact title, the image set and the bullets, exported, with a date on it. When the page changes, you want a before and after, not a memory.
Watch the title specifically. Amazon already rewrites titles over its 75 character limit on its own, so a changed title is not always another seller. Knowing which of the two happened decides which route you take, and the only way to know is to have the original written down somewhere.
And if what you are facing is a takedown rather than a rewrite, a listing removed for infringing a trademark you own is the case to read next.
What could not be confirmed
Amazon's help pages on Brand Registry and on detail page abuse do not open without a signed-in session, so none of the routes above could be checked against an official Amazon page from here. They come from Amazon staff and seller posts on the Seller Central forums, and the forms and menu names may have moved. Before you spend a week on a case, confirm the current path in your own account.
