Key takeaways

  • The EU and UK fuel and logistics surcharge on fulfilment fees rises from 1.5% to 2% for FBA on November 2, 2026.
  • Multi Channel Fulfilment follows on November 19, 2026, and only in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
  • It is calculated on your fulfilment fee, not on the sale price, so it lands on peak rates in force from October 15 to January 14.
  • Amazon estimates an average of £0.02 or €0.02 more per unit for EU FBA, varying with item size and dimensions.
  • Sort the Fee and Economics Preview report by fulfilment fee, not by units: exposure sits in the heaviest items.

The Amazon fulfilment fee surcharge is going up in November 2026: the fuel and logistics related surcharge on European fulfilment fees moves from 1.5% to 2%. For FBA it starts on November 2, 2026, in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland and Belgium. For Multi Channel Fulfilment the same increase starts on November 19, 2026, in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. The change was announced in Amazon's European seller forums on October 19, 2026, from the News_Amazon account.

Half a percentage point reads like nothing. The timing is what makes it cost money.

The surcharge is charged on the fee, not on the price

Amazon is explicit that the surcharge "will continue to be calculated on your fulfilment fees, not on the sale price of your items". Amazon's own estimate of the impact is an average of £0.02 or €0.02 more per unit for EU FBA, and it says the real figure varies with item size and dimensions.

That sentence is the whole article, because of what your fulfilment fee is doing right now. Festive peak fulfilment fees are in force from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027. A surcharge calculated on the fulfilment fee therefore lands on the peak rate for its first eleven weeks, not on the standard rate. The base is at its highest point of the year exactly when the percentage goes up.

So the per unit number depends entirely on what you fulfil. On a small parcel paying roughly £0.12 extra for peak, the half point is rounding. On a heavier standard or oversize unit with a fulfilment fee several times that, it is not, and oversize is also where the peak surcharge itself does not apply, which changes the comparison. The arithmetic is yours to do per SKU, and Amazon says Profit Analytics, the Revenue Calculator and the Fee and Economics Preview report have all been updated to show the per unit and total business impact.

Which SKUs pay the surcharge twice?

Where this came from

The surcharge is not new. Amazon introduced it on European fulfilment fees in April 2026 at 1.5%, framed as recovering part of elevated fuel and logistics costs. This is the first change to the rate. The US and Canada run a separate surcharge on a different basis, which we covered in how the FBA fuel and logistics surcharge is calculated.

It is also worth seeing where this sits against the headline fee rounds. Amazon's 2026 US referral and FBA fee update, published on October 15, 2025, raised US fees by an average of about $0.08 per unit effective January 15, 2026, and introduced no new fee types. In that announcement Amazon also commits to at least 90 days of notice before a fee increase takes effect. The year before, Amazon did not raise US referral and FBA fees at all and lowered inbound placement fees for large bulky products by an average of $0.58 per unit.

A surcharge change is a different animal. It moves outside the annual fee round, it arrives with about two weeks of notice rather than ninety days, and it is expressed as a percentage of a fee that itself changes with the calendar. That combination is why it tends to show up as an unexplained gap between the margin you modelled in September and the margin your October and November invoices report.

What to do before November 2

Nothing here is a crisis. It is a re-pricing input, and it has a date.

Pull the Fee and Economics Preview report and sort by fulfilment fee, not by units. The surcharge is a percentage of that fee, so your exposure concentrates in the heaviest and largest items, not the best sellers. Then check the handful of SKUs where you are already selling close to breakeven in the UK and the EU: those are the ones where two cents a unit, on top of peak fulfilment fees, can tip a line into a loss without anything visibly changing.

If you also run Multi Channel Fulfilment, remember the dates differ. FBA moves on November 2, MCF on November 19 and only in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. For the rest of the Q4 calendar, our breakdown of the 2026 holiday peak fulfilment fees and of FBA peak season fees has the windows and the amounts.

One honest caveat: the rate change is documented in Amazon's announcement in its European seller forums, and at the time of writing there is no separate help page in Seller Central carrying the 2% figure. Confirm it against your own Revenue Calculator and Fee and Economics Preview numbers before you reprice.

“The surcharge will continue to be calculated on your fulfilment fees, not on the sale price of your items.”
